Architecture

A concrete residence near Moscow that finds its scale and stillness among mature trees.

The house does not treat the forest as scenery beyond the glass. Trees influence the placement of rooms, the direction of movement and the moments when the architecture opens or withdraws.

Concrete gives the residence weight and permanence; warmer surfaces and controlled daylight temper that rigour at the scale of everyday life. The contrast creates a home that feels protected without feeling sealed away.

House in the Forest is shaped by restraint: substantial volumes anchor the home, while long openings and measured transitions keep the surrounding landscape continuously present.

Build around what is already there

The position of mature trees becomes part of the spatial order rather than an obstacle left for the landscape stage.

Give mass a human scale

Deep thresholds, warmer materials and long interior views soften the authority of the concrete volumes.

Let light mark time

Controlled openings bring the changing day into the interior without dissolving its sense of shelter.
