House in the Hill — Interior

38 / 43

Interior design

The interior of House in the Hill brings warmth, tactility and domestic intimacy to a rigorous Koh Samui residence.

Rooms follow the changing levels of the site, so furniture and joinery help each platform find its own centre. Long views remain present, but everyday life is anchored by tactile surfaces and more intimate pockets of use.

The palette does not compete with the tropical landscape or the weight of the architecture. It mediates between them, using warmth and craft to make level changes, thresholds and built-in elements feel continuous.

Where the architecture is shaped by slope and strong sectional movement, the interior restores a closer human scale. Timber, textiles and carefully placed light make the embedded house feel lived in rather than monumental.

01

Anchor every level

Furniture and light give each platform a clear domestic purpose within the larger sectional journey.

02

Warm the architectural frame

Timber and tactile finishes soften structural rigour without obscuring it.

03

Keep the landscape in the room

A restrained palette allows changing vegetation and sky to remain the strongest colour.
